James Peterson

Corporal James R. Peterson, 17043264 was raised in Mason City, Iowa and graduated from Mason City High School in 1938.

He enlisted in February 1942. Joined the De Loach crew in May 1943 after flying with the 403rd Squadron.

After the July 11, 1943 ditching of "Black Jack", he was awarded an Air Medal, and flew in B-24s. He returned to the United States in April of 1944 after flying 42 missions.

He was located in 1990 at his retirement home in northwest Minnesota after "Black Jack’s Last Mission" was completed.

George Prezioso lost regular contact with him several years ago. Peterson's whereabouts today are unlknown, possibly he is living in Arizona.
