James R. Peterson

Corporal James R. Peterson, 17043264 was raised in Mason City, Iowa and graduated from Mason City High School in 1938.

He enlisted in February 1942. Joined the De Loach crew in May 1943 after flying with the 403rd Squadron.

After the July 11, 1943 ditching of "Black Jack", he was awarded an Air Medal, and flew in B-24s. He returned to the United States in April of 1944 after flying 42 missions.

He worked most of his adult life in Fargo, North Dakota with his wife Gwen. Later he retired to Minnesota and spent winters in Arizona. Today he lives in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
